Testimonies - Remi & Sylvie

Sylvie: Remi and I emigrated to South Africa from France in 1990. We married and lived in Somerset West [near Cape Town] running the local surf shop. Having grown up in non religious families, we knew almost nothing about God. Shortly after the birth of our third child, our marriage started to deteriorate and ended in a painful divorce. It was a terrible time for both of us and for the children. The children developed emotional and behavioural problems. As Remi was walking along the beach, very unhappy and depressed, he met Davit who invited him to visit at Petach Tikva and gave his life to the Lord shortly afterwards.

Remi: Thanks to Davit’s perseverance in inviting me, I went to visit him and was very touched by what he shared with me about Jesus, about the covenant of marriage etc. And I really wanted to know more. He convinced me to go and spend a few days on the farm. There I sensed they had a peace and a joy that I wanted for myself. I decided to give my life to Jesus. From that day on the Lord has revealed himself to me in many ways and he became a reality in my life. He was so faithful; I learned to trust Him more and more.

Sylvie: God was working in our children, healing and restoring them step by step. It was a time of renewed hope and I found a peace that I never had before. I believed it would be good for the children and I to move to the farm, I prayed about it and asked God for confirmation. A few weeks later, the Lord made a way for someone to buy the shop. As we were getting ready to move to the farm not so sure what I would do there, the Lord gave me the vision to start an orphanage and gave me amazing confirmations. So with great excitement and hope, we moved to the farm in July 2002 and soon started building the children’s home. Remi still in Somerset West was missing the children terribly and after a short visit, decided to join the community. His business was also sold in a miraculous way within days. The Lord used the following months to heal and restore our hearts and to prepare us for the wonderful day when we were remarried in December 2003: what a miracle to have our family reunited!

The Children’s Home is expanding and we trust God to send many more children. We thank the Lord for His salvation, the miracle of restoring our family, for giving us a new life, a hope and an exciting future in Him. He made us part of a wonderful family of believers who have made Jesus the centre of their lives and where God is doing amazing things!
