Testimonies - Jessica

Everyday life at Alon is an adventure. During my time here I have learnt so much about the ways of God. Coming from the city of Johannesburg my priorities were very different to what they are now. Before I found my worth and purpose in making money and striving to climb the corporate ladder. Being in sales I became very ambitious and focused on a future built on the expectations of others.

I came to Alon for a holiday and saw something in the lives of the people here that made me think about my life and what drove me. I caught a glimpse of what it truly meant to serve the Lord - to have the reality of Jesus in every area of life and not only when it suited me. When I went back to Johannesburg, my life seemed empty compared to the rich life I experienced on the farm.

It is incredible to look back at how the Lord brought me here and how he knew every detail! I now work at the Alon business offices in town and it is a blessing to be able to work in the environment I do. Everyday I learn something from the people around me and know that our motive and drive is to glorify Jesus and to work wholeheartedly with a real purpose. It is a blessing to be able to look back at how my life was and compare it now. In my teenage years I suffered from terrible depression, used to cut myself and used drugs. I would wake up hopeless. I tried everything to get help - medication, hospitals even shock therapy - nothing lifted the heaviness from me.

Thank you Lord for a new life and future with the people at Alôn. I can say with confidence that I am in God’s plan and it is exciting.
