Testimonies - Anton & Kyla

Anton:

Since I joined the community around seven years ago I have seen the Lord’s faithfulness over and over. My wife, Kyla, and I have seen God’s provision in amazing ways. We can testify of the wonderful blessing it has been to share our lives on a daily basis with others and to be accountable to one another. This lifestyle has expanded our hearts, to be interested in people and for God’s kingdom. Before embracing this road of discipleship I used to be a very independent and selfish person. However, God has given me a heart for others and vision for life. I see God’s calling on our lives “to live and move and have our being in Him.” Yet that could never have been possible living my own selfish life. The growth in our hearts God has brought about has come from living together with brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Kyla:

I am 23 years old. I have been living in community, here at Alôn , for eleven years now. My life has been very blessed Although I grew up in a dysfunctional home, being the only child of a single mother God has healed me and brought stability to my life. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband and we have been married for three years now. Many different opportunities to travel, see and experience new places and different people have come my way. I have the privilege of teaching at Blue Mountain College (the boarding school on Alôn farm) and doors of provision to study for my teaching degree have opened miraculously. I study though correspondence at the University of South Africa. But the greatest miracle is that of a changed heart. After school I decided to spend my first year on the farm and had the opportunity to work in various places within the work and learn many things. Unfortunately I could not see the “goodness of God in the land of the living” despite my ideal surroundings. My vision was clouded by my own plans and dreams and I lacked a true commitment to follow Jesus. Then already I realised that everything looked different although I was still in the same place - my surroundings hadn’t changed, but something in my heart had. I could see how incredible my life was and how ungrateful I had been. And I chose to surrender my life to the will of God. You can be in a place of abundance, but stay empty. It doesn’t matter where you are, what you have or what you do - it’s the life of Jesus that is in you that will give your life vision.
