Testimonies - Andrew & Michelle

Both of us come out of religious backgrounds, and yet totally ungodly. Living by our own standards we lived a reasonable life, but outside of God, believing we were good and had it together.

We were an unmarried couple but had no conviction upon our hearts that we were sinning against God. All our friends and our parents condoned our situation and so we continued on in our blindness.

After moving from Namibia to South Africa Michelle had a “God-appointed” meeting with an old friend from university days. We were invited to a birthday supper with these friends who were now part of Alôn in the Cape.

Immediately Michelle sensed in her heart that what these believers had was what she was searching for. Michelle started attending the Friday evening meetings at the Alôn base, Petach Tikva. Soon she yielded her life to the Lord and was saved. I, Andrew, wanted nothing to do with going to meetings and so would use any excuse not to go.

Following her salvation Michelle felt convicted to move out and to end the relationship as she wanted to be in God’s will. We had been separated for a time when one night I had a dream where I saw the Lord standing on a hill, and He said: “Those that are of me stand to the left and those that are not of me stand to the right” – I found myself on the right looking across to the people with Jesus.

This was a shock and a severe awakening for me, the following day I gave my life over to the Lord. Michelle and I were friends again so I joined in the meetings at Petach Tikva. We were seeking the Lord for His purpose and plan for our lives. A few months later we were married. Not only has He saved us, put us together but revealed His love and grace to us but He has given us a whole new life that is coming together in Him. We now live on the Alon Base and are excited to see what the Lord has for us as individuals and as a family.
