Testimonies - Adriaan & Jaime

Jaime and I were married in December 2004. We have two children: a boy Isaiah [aged 10, from years before we met when Jaime was still in America] and a one year old daughter, Jade. Jaime and I come from very different backgrounds. When I was 21 years old I worked at a restaurant here in South Africa. I felt empty and depressed and so sought fulfillment in drugs and other things. Jaime was in America, raising a young son from her teenage pregnancy. She was working very hard but had no place for God in her life either.

God brought Jaime to Alôn (December 2003) where we met and married. Adriaan had been on the farm since June 2000. Despite both of us growing up in Christian homes, we both rebelled and ended in hopeless situations. So in different ways both of us were messed up in the world, but we can testify that Jesus is a redeemer and a restorer of broken lives. We both found that as we opened ourselves to the Lord, He had a wonderful plan for our lives – we needed to say ‘yes’ and to be willing to obey each step along the way.

Today, says Adriaan, God had taken me from a dark, selfish life to where I now am able to fulfill the role of father and husband. Jaime had the prayer in her heart that God would restore her life and even give her a husband who would put Him first, and who would be a true father to her son, Isaiah. Adriaan and Jaime give glory to God, He has made them a family and continues to lead them according to His purposes for their lives.
