Jan and Andrea were both
born in Cape Town and met at university and got married in Cape Town. Jan,
a lawyer, and Andrea, a music teacher, had one child, owed a lot to the
bank and were settling into a seemingly safe but stale suburban existence.
Then, several years ago, they met with the people of Alon Christian
Fellowship and they both immediately sensed the call of God on their lives
as they worshipped God together and spent time with them. The Lord showed
them that they were to come out of the shadow into the reality which is
found in Christ. Jan found that his world was empty without the Lord and
as he joined in with the life of the believers he found that his
fulfilment was not in what he knew or what he was but in the Lord who has
all the answers and an exciting vision for the future. For Andrea it was
about laying down her own plans and ways and letting the Lord raise up His
beautiful purposes as He took her and her gift of music to use her as a
worshipper in His Kingdom. In responding to God’s call they left Cape Town
behind and moved on to Alon Kibbutz in the North to join the vibrant life
of the community which they enjoy very much. The Lord has provided for
them abundantly - they now have two sons, a beautiful home with a view
that goes on forever and are part of a dynamic, creative and caring
community that serves the Lord who has also freed them from debt. Jan is
now running a law practice and enjoys teaching part-time at Blue Mountain
College - a private school which is part of the Christian work. Andrea
teaches music at the school and plays keyboard in the church band as well
as at cabaret and musical events arranged by the community in order to
proclaim the reality of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are excited to
see what the Lord has - He is truly a God in whom they find deliverance
and healing constantly, Who has moved them and continues to move them on
in His purposes! |
