Celebrating our 7th
year of song and dance, we are proud to present “Vegas”, our
very own in-house musical extravaganza put together for the 2009
show season. Since humble beginnings in 2003 we have witnessed
the expansion of our annual musical productions as equipment and
talents have been added year after year. Many people pass
through our doors during show season (usually 1200+ people) and
we can even boast of a loyal following of supporters who
faithfully return every year to enjoy a brilliant evening of
tremendous entertainment. Fused with premium gourmet cuisine (6
courses this year) and drama to bring a smile to all people, our
shows are vibrant and colourful in every way way. Although the songs are secular and
the narratives humourous and without any disguised biblical
message, yet, we
believe that everything done unto the Lord will be anointed if
it is from God. Our mission is not to establish ourselves as
leading singers and actors, but rather to provide something
which may reach the local community in a unique way. Every show
is concluded with a short explanation about what
Jesus has done in our lives and
with a prayer of thanksgiving. Many who come have not or will
not set their feet in any religious establishment and so an
opportunity is created simply to tell people about the goodness
of our God.
Here is a copy of an article recently posted in a regional
newspaper by someone who attended a show and whom we never asked
to write about us, but chose to do so of his own accord:

…AND
VEGAS COMES TO TOWN!!!! WHAT AN ENTRANCE…WHAT AN EXIT…!!!! VEGAS
hits Tzaneen and the hills have come alive with the sound of …
cabaret, song and dance!!!! ALON has pulled out all the stops
with their fantastic rendition of a “VEGAS” style cabaret. What
a night to remember as we followed in the footsteps of our two
intrepid entrepreneurs who went to the great US of A in pursuit
of their “American Dream”. To quote…”A spectacular evening of
music, dance and theatre fused with a six course gourmet meal in
the most glamorous of settings…” is really a mild
understatement. Here the adage of “less is more” really comes to
the fore. Subtlety was the key note in the setting of the décor.
Rich warm hues of reds and browns enveloped the sense of sight
and promoted coziness and intimacy. Our fare for the evening was
a feast fit for a king and we wined and dined to a splendid,
mouth watering, palate tantalizing gourmet of foods and sweets.
Little knowing what our hosts had in store for us, we quaffed
away at various wine suggestions presented by them. Then it was
SHOWTIME…!!! Excellent narration and dazzling scenes danced
before our eyes. Song, dance and music, led us through the
pantomime of the lives of our two intrepid gentlemen as they
ensued their dream, And “THE SHOW MUST GO ON…!!!” Held us spell
bound, one moment reaching close to tears, and the next our
sides almost splitting with laughter. Our table hostesses,
dressed in their fancy fare added glitz and glamour to an
already sparkling evening. An evening of such fine cuisine
cannot be missed out on! Take the time and trouble to invest a
few rand to treat yourself and your loved ones to an evening out
in the mountains. Should you miss out on this show, you can
count yourself just a little poorer for not having invested an
evening of fun, laughter and really excellent food as presented
by the ALON Community. A large portion of the shows presented
will go toward the financing and building of a Hospice Wellness
Centre at ALON. |
