It was always hoped that there would be a school at Alon which would provide children with an opportunity to be educated in a very unique setting. Various visiting believers spoke prophetically about the establishment of a school and had many encouraging words to give about the Lord blessing a school at Alon. It was only in 2005 that Davit and Sara Ben-Avi felt the clear leading of God to go ahead with the establishment of a school. This met with much excitement and immediately plans and arrangements began for the starting of the school. After much discussion and prayer, the name Blue Mountain College was decided upon - the name gives an indication of the beautiful panoramic view the school enjoys looking over the Tzaneen valley to the northern most beginnings of the Drakensberg mountain. We believe that through careful guidance, informed instruction, experienced pastoring and a stimulating and vibrant environment that many young people are afforded the opportunity to develop a God-given vision and purpose for their lives. It is so important that each young person, when leaving school, feels properly equipped for the challenges that await them. At Blue Mountain College students are given opportunities to develop various life skills that can equip them for these challenges. We encourage students to participate voluntarily in different environments to discover their potential. Throughout the academic year they are given plenty of opportunity to help out in the various departments (workshops, restaurants, horticulture, etc.). We believe that the purpose of each student is equally significant and that each student will be able to make a difference in this world. Anemie's testimony Annemie matriculated at Blue Mountain College in 2008.
I had the amazing privilege of going to Blue Mountain College, it was not just a school where I received the finest education but it also became my home. Every teacher has the best interest of all the students at heart. My experience was definitely one that I will never forget especially because most of what I learned has made me into the person I am today. The unique setting and secure environment allowed me develop skills one would not find in an ordinary school. I am proud to be one of the first matriculates of Blue Mountain College and am forever grateful for the effort and hard work that was put into my education and development.
