Introduction (the vision for Alon) |

Alon is a body of believers (a church) bound by a common commitment to the serving of our Lord Jesus Christ and to one another in being a witness of His love and power. We remain undenominational. Our relationship and service is to the wider church (universal) and we value interchange of ministries. Our function is to serve the Body of Christ, by taking people into the community for training, teaching and restoration and for the Lord to equip them with purpose, vision and destiny in serving God wherever He would have them be or would send them. We aim to preach the Gospel to Jew and gentile by the enabling of the Holy Spirit, be it in the workplace, marketplace or wherever. We are to be watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem (Isaiah 62:6-7). We aim to be a House of Prayer unto the nations, believing that we should become prayer and worship in a lifestyle and testimony that will bring true worship unto God. Our base is to serve as a "resting place" for God's people along their spiritual pilgrimage, a place of refreshing, and also a place of hospitality to reveal His character, His word and His love. We are not an "end-time place of escape", but rather a place where we are being prepared for Jesus and eternity in doing the Father's will and being released to function in our gifts and calling, spiritually and practically.
This is not a community established for the sake of community nor convenience, nor self sufficiency, but rather a community for the purpose of living and working together in fulfilling God's will, His work and His ministry, which is "beyond ourselves". It's not the community that gives peace and wholeness, but the person of Jesus as the center, as the head and as the all-sufficient redeemer in the community. In Him alone is hope and vision for our existence. Alon is established as a Trust promoting and furthering the aims and objectives of Christianity. Alon was founded and birthed into existence by the calling and ordination of God early in 1987. The Lord chose to call, Davit and Sara with their 3 children, to begin this ministry after being prepared first in South Africa, and then for some years in the wider body of Messiah in different parts of the world, starting in Israel, then Europe, the USA and then in New Zealand before being called back to South Africa. The years of preparation stand as a living testimony of God's provision in leading real people forward into His unfolding plan as they trust in Him. We took on the mandate from the Lord "open wide your mouth, and I will fill it" (Psalm 81:10) as a way in making all our needs known to God and not unto man. We have experienced God's faithfulness in providing moment by moment for us all these years in order to be without debt to man, banks etc. All the various properties and all that we have are paid for as God provided for us over the years. ALL GLORY TO GOD! God's call will always birth into being, vision, which will establish more of the centrality of Jesus, and the kingdom of God, with reality and power which will crown Jesus as Lord! |
